Between Worlds

Nina has welcomed the transition from being a college student to a working professional with a lack of excitement and bouts of compulsive urges to quit. But she is not going to quit. You might think its because of practicality, well , that's not the case. She is not quitting because her nature doesn't allow her to...her ego doesn't allow her to.

In the above scenario ego might appear to play a very constructive role, but its not always the case. Many a times she has found her world shredded, owing to her ego. Though, a very sensible person, but at the slightest of pangs on her ego...she becomes enraged and loses all control or civility..the beast within take control in a demonic manner.

The dilemma is, she knows that ego is love of self and love of self leads to happiness but also happiness requires a great deal of tolerance towards other people. But she seems to be at a fix of choosing between these, rather balancing them as they are voluntary.

HOW SHOULD SHE BALANCE HER INNER WORLD, RULED BY EGOTISM AND HER OUTER WORLD, WHICH REQUIRES HER TO KILL A GREAT PART OF HER EGO????

  1. reading above story of Nina was not a story for me atleast. If you have watched " donnie darko " , then you might know about the sequence where donnie bashed Jim Cunningham(a motivational speaker in the movie) with some comments like : Why only those who have failed talked about success , why only those who cry in lonely nights talk about happiness and socialization .
On the similar lines , G.B.Shaw said "Those who can , they do ; those who can't they teach" .

I am sure you might be getting context on what i am going to say next (as i think you can understand my words :-) ).

I really dont know how to come over it because I know nina personally , i should say soully as she is a part of my soul too . And i think what Nina is going through is quite normal what everyone feels but the difference is : people subjugate the Nina within them . They start spending time so as to make themselves busy to forget about nina and her thoughts . I dont say thats a bad approach but I think dont kill nina or dont let her taking a back seat. Let her thinking deep , slowly and slowly she will find her way out in this world and surely that way will not care about the outer world. Two days back someone gave an example of : Rocket needs a particular threshold energy to go out of the gravity of earth and until it gets enough amount of ignition, it will either never start its journey or else it will fall down.
Similarly, nina needs to keep this ignition in her , so that once she had enough she will shoot out and either that will lead to a new path way or else that’s the end of her life.

I wont write more else people will think this is a condition of mental divergence. Where I found myself on the planet Ogo, part of an intellectual elite, preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. But even though that was a totally convincing reality for me in every way, nevertheless Ogo was actually a construct of my psyche. I agree with this mentally divergent, in that I was escaping certain unnamed realities that plague my life here. When I stopped going there, I would be well.

I hope you are with me in this mission .Wiping out the human race? That's a great idea. That's great. But more of a long-term thing. I mean, first we have to focus on more immediate goals. And the immediate goal is to let Nina burn until the threshold limit exceeds and she pulls her ego against gravity .

  4. @Sheetal : darling, You know what crazy is? Crazy is majority rules. Take germs, for example. Uh-huh. In the eighteenth century, no such thing, nada, nothing. No one ever imagined such a thing. No sane person, anyway. Ah! Ah! Along comes this doctor, uh, uh, uh, Semmelweis, Semmelweis. Semmelweis comes along. He's trying to convince people, well, other doctors mainly, that's there's these teeny tiny invisible bad things called germs that get into your body and make you sick. Ah? He's trying to get doctors to wash their hands. What is this guy? Crazy? Teeny, tiny, invisible? What do you call it? Uh-uh, germs? Huh? What? Now, cut to the 20th century. Last week, as a matter of fact, before I got dragged into this hellhole. I go in to order a burger in this fast food joint, and the guy drops it on the floor. Jim, he picks it up, he wipes it off, he hands it to me like it's all OK. "What about the germs?" I say. He says, "I don't believe in germs. Germs is just a plot they made up so they can sell you disinfectants and soaps." Now he's crazy, right? See?

  5. @ dogra:....bro ..u have hit the nail on the head...on a serious note...words like Crazy have a relative meaning varying with times, people, places etc....there is no single line which could differentiate these people from "sane" ones...i think....the burger boy was crazy only...but not for the reason mentioned...instead..what he should have done is....pick up the burger...spit on it (and thereby disinfect it).. serve it back to the customer...it adds to the taste also..

    Bob...u r still a fruitcake...no improvements:)))

  6. Life has to go on Jack. With or without God. With or without germs . With or without notes. With or without words. With or without burgers. With or without you . With or without me.

But my dear Jack , I know I am not sane and I know thats the only way to deal with this insane world .

This famous linguist once said that of all the phrases in the English language, of all the endless combinations of words in all of history, that "cellar door" is the most beautiful.

Anyways , I don't really come from outer space.
I'm looking for the Army of the Twelve Monkeys.

  7. Amusing yet, deep... ego can be totally hypnotic..I think, somtimes, it can work better than drugs (though I have never tried drugs ;-) ).
